Valeria Perez Zimmer promoted to Vice President, USA at Zimmer MedizinSystems

Zimmer MedizinSystems is pleased to announce the promotion of Valeria Perez Zimmer to Vice President, USA.

Since joining the U.S. organization several years ago, Valeria has developed a strong understanding of its operations, people and company culture while steadily taking on greater responsibility.

Since stepping into the role, Valeria has been focusing on U.S. operations, process improvement, team support, and communication between the U.S. office and Zimmer MedizinSysteme headquarters in Germany. Her responsibilities complement the division-specific leadership of the Aesthetics and Physical Medicine teams while helping strengthen coordination across the broader U.S. organization.

“This role is a big responsibility, but also a great opportunity to help improve operations, support our team, and contribute to the company’s future growth,” Valeria said.

Her promotion continues a family business tradition with roots reaching back generations. Zimmer MedizinSysteme was founded in Germany in 1969 by brothers Bernd and Peter Zimmer, who carried their family’s background in radio technology and manufacturing into the development and production of medical technology. What began as Zimmer Elektromedizin grew into a company that develops, manufactures and markets medical devices, with production “Made in Germany” remaining central to its identity.

The company’s international growth began early in its history. As part of that continued expansion, Zimmer MedizinSystems was established in 1986 as its U.S. distribution arm. Today, the family-run organization has a strong international partner network and is represented in more than 140 countries worldwide.

Michael and Armin Zimmer, sons of co-founder Bernd Zimmer, currently serve as Managing Directors of Zimmer MedizinSysteme. Michael Zimmer is Valeria’s father. Like many members of the Zimmer family who have contributed to the company across generations and locations, Valeria grew up familiar with the business and has continued learning it through direct, practical experience.

The company’s history offers an early glimpse of this hands-on approach to family mentorship. Archival photographs featured in the 2019 A to Z News retrospective 50 Years Young show co-founder Peter Zimmer introducing his daughters to the company’s testing and production work at a young age. The images provide a fitting visual record of a tradition that continues with a new generation of Zimmer family leadership.

Valeria’s leadership approach reflects qualities that have long distinguished the family-owned organization: active involvement, accountability, careful listening and an accessible, down-to-earth manner. Rather than relying on the weight of the family name, Valeria has demonstrated her capabilities through the responsibilities she has assumed and the thoughtful, measured way she approaches decisions, challenges and collaboration.

“I’m very collaborative and approachable,” she said. “I like to stay involved, listen to feedback, and make sure our team feels supported so we can all move forward together.”

Outside of work, Valeria lives in Corona, California, with her wife, Preciosa, their two bunnies and their dog.

In the interview below, Valeria discusses what the promotion means to her, her priorities as Vice President, her role in connecting the U.S. and German teams, and what excites her most about the future of Zimmer MedizinSystems in the United States.
