Cold air therapy is useful for fast and intensive cooling of the skin, as well as for longer periods of moderate cooling to decrease the temperature in deeper layers of tissue.

Cold air therapy has been proven effective in:

- Acute and chronic pain conditions of the musculoskeletal system:
  rheumatic diseases, tendinopathies, acute inflammation, lower back pain
- Procedure-related pain:
  knee, hip, spinal and shoulder surgery
- Periprocedural pain:

I have used all of Zimmer’s Cryo units over the years and have one unit that is over 13 years old. We use it every day and it is still going strong. These are workhorse devices. We use a Zimmer Cryo with almost all our energy-based treatments. The cold air temperature is delivered consistently to avoid overheating the skin. We also utilize the unit’s epidermal skin numbing technology which provides a sensory block; patients receive a more pain-free experience. The Cryo 7 is a significant advance over earlier versions. Easily direct the cold air stream – hands-free – with the help of a supporting spring arm. This support arm is included with the Cryo 7 system and can be especially beneficial during long treatment periods.
