A to Z News: Dr. Jurus, in the video, you demonstrated the use of the emFieldPro HEIT device. Can you elaborate on how this device enhances your treatment capabilities compared to traditional chiropractic methods or other devices in this field?
DJ: Since purchasing the emFieldPro earlier this year, I have been able to directly target some of the deepest and most superficial irritations my patients have been dealing with, such as the brachial and lumbar plexus pathologies. This machine has provided pain reductions and range of motion improvements in as little as a few minutes of the therapy being applied.
A to Z News: What specific conditions or patient symptoms do you find the emFieldPro particularly effective in treating?
DJ: The emFieldPro has proven successful in treating neuropathy-related and nerve root compression conditions in the sense that it stimulates the nerve beyond the natural abilities of the patient. Among the other treatments available, when applying this machine to the psoas and iliacus muscles, it is one of the fastest and least invasive ways to reduce tension in the lower back and hips, while reducing the stress caused by the imbalance of the pelvis and core contractions.
A to Z News: You mentioned nerve stimulation and muscle activation as key effects of the emFieldPro. Can you elaborate on how this aids in treating specific conditions like herniated discs or arthritis?
DJ: During the course of care for my patients with chronic issues like arthritis and/or acute flare-ups from herniated discs, the application of the emFieldPro, within a few minutes, has shown the potential to reduce the amount of pain experienced, while increasing range of motion. This machine has a lot of potential when using it in conjunction of chiropractic and other soft tissue therapies.
A to Z News: During the treatment session, as shown in the video, the emFieldPro was applied to the patient’s back, yet the patient pointed to sensations in his lower front, specifically mentioning feeling it in his psoas. This muscle extends from the lower back to the pelvis and hip. Could you explain how the emFieldPro enables such deep tissue penetration and activation of key muscles like the psoas in areas distant from the point of application, particularly highlighting its effectiveness without direct contact or the need for patient disrobing?
DJ: The application of the emFieldPro to my patient’s lower back, has shown to stimulate the nerve roots of the lumbar spine and the muscles attaching to the lumbar spine, such as the psoas and iliacus muscles. Since magnetic energy penetrates through clothing, soft tissue, and bone, it is easy to apply while effectively stimulating hard-to-reach anatomical structures such as deep hip flexors, and even intestinal motility.
A to Z News: The demonstration showed impressive immediate results. Could you share some long-term benefits you’ve observed in patients after using the emFieldPro?
DJ: Long-term benefits experienced from the emFieldPro include strong nerve-stimulatory benefits such as increased rectal sphincter control after a single 5-minute session of pelvic floor stimulation, reduced tension in the hip flexors after 10 minutes, and increased neck extension range of motion after a single thoracic application of 5 minutes.
A to Z News: Are there any particular patient success stories or notable feedback you’ve received regarding treatments with the emFieldPro that you’d like to share?
DJ: I have had the pleasure of treating a paraplegic patient with this tool over the last year. She had lumbar spine fusion surgery after a severe auto accident, leaving her paralyzed in her lower body. Within 60 days of the lumbar fusion, she started treatments with me. She has enjoyed the application and procedures to get her to where she is today. After 40 minutes of maximum intensity of the emFieldPro to her hips, and many weeks of care, including high-power laser therapy, she went from having numbness in both her legs, and absolutely no muscular contractions of her hips and legs, to being able to walk with two canes and ankle braces. I attribute the emFieldPro to having helped her regain sensation and muscle activation in her legs. The amount of joy I experience, when I see her walk into the clinic on canes, is priceless to me as a chiropractor. She is my biggest success story and I want to help anyone else suffering from a catastrophic condition to try out this machine.
A to Z News: How do you decide the appropriate intensity level of the emFieldPro for different conditions or patient needs?
DJ: I choose to run this machine at the highest possible intensity level the patient can tolerate. I want the nerve stimulation to be as strong as possible, given the patient enjoys the process, since the body will respond faster and with longer-lasting results.
A to Z News: Lastly, for chiropractors considering incorporating the emFieldPro into their practices, what advice or insight can you give them based on your experience?
DJ: This machine feels like no other machine on the market. I tell patients that they will lose control over the muscles during the procedure, yet afterward leaving them with the perception that they just worked out.
