In a video that he shared with Zimmer USA, Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Alexander G. Digenis, talked about his use of the Zimmer Z Wave after liposuction and Bodytite (radiofrequency assisted lipolysis) procedures.
Beginning at about six weeks post-procedure, Digenis Plastic Surgery Institute administers the non-invasive radial pulse technology to the treatment areas. Dr. Digenis explained, “The Z Wave has been used in my practice primarily as a post-liposuction or Bodytite therapy to help with the irregularities and ‘lumpy, bumpy’, as we call them, in a post-operative period. Generally, to help with modeling of the area and smoothing of the skin and the contouring.” He continued, “In addition to temporary cellulite treatment, the Z Wave has become an essential part, in terms of smoothing out the areas as they remodel and heal in the first six months.”
Z News learned from Dr. Digenis that his practice usually performs three to six Z Wave treatments after a procedure. Each treatment is spaced between one and three weeks apart. Without the added Z Wave treatments, Dr. Digenis believes that outcomes could have more irregularities and that in his experience, “Z Wave seems to enhance the liposuction / Bodytite results.”
Patients undergoing these Z Wave treatments find the treatment pleasant, as well as relieving. “We find that the patients not only enjoy the procedure as a massage,” said Dr. Digenis, “but it also helps with paresthesias.” During our interview with Dr. Digenis, he stated, “Patients have reported that they do no experience discomfort on the back and legs when treated. In fact, they related it very much like a deep massage. Paresthesias (tingling, itching, dull pain, etc…) appear to improve with Z Wave treatments.”
