On September 10, 2020, Zimmer Aesthetic Division hosted a live, 30-minute webinar featuring Dr. Steven Bengelsdorf and Aesthetician, Carmen Primrose. The two utilize the Z Wave device daily at the busy practice of Franklin Skin and Laser. They each gave presentations on “The Value of Z Wave in a Cosmetic Surgery Practice” and then answered questions from the attendees.
Franklin Skin and Laser gets tremendous utility from the Z Wave device. During the Q&A portion of the webinar, the pair were asked how frequently Z Wave is used in the clinic. Dr. Bengelsdorf commented, “It’s every day. I don’t think there’s a day that goes by where it’s not in use.” Ms. Primrose added, “We have two machines and, oftentimes, they’ll both be in use.” This constant use, says Dr. Bengelsdorf, is due to the device’s versatility. “I think Z Wave is really like a hammer and you just find different uses for it. I can tell you that when my wife had some sore muscles, she went into the office and we did Z Wave on her and that was helpful. I can tell you that we’re using it now with tattoo removal. So, it has multiple applications.”
The practice also uses Z Wave as a stand-alone treatment for cellulite, as well as to enhance results in conjunction with other aesthetic procedures. A top CoolSculpting™ practice in the Midwest Territory, Franklin Skin and Laser offers Z Wave treatments post-procedure at an additional charge. They note that their patients always opt to replace the manual massage with a Z Wave treatment. Dr. Bengelsdorf commented, “We actually give the patients, when we do, let’s say CoolSculpting for them, we tell them we can do hand massage mechanically OR we can use Z Wave… We tell them it’s about $100 for an upcharge. And we’ve not had anybody NOT take that.” Ms. Primrose commented that she has heard comments “every single time” from patients who separately experienced both Z Wave and manual massage following CoolSculpting. “I don’t think we’ve had anyone say that they don’t prefer the Z Wave. Most people say it’s night and day difference on the level of discomfort.”
