The Zimmer Z Wave was featured in an article on ModernMedicine.com’s The Aesthetic Channel. Writer Lisette Hilton noted that 80% of those surveyed on RealSelf deemed treatments for cellulite to be “worth it”.  She explains that the non-invasive Z Wave method takes about 3-4 minutes per body zone and is FDA cleared for the temporary reduction of the appearance of cellulite. Hilton notes that Z Wave has also been used “as an adjunct to enhance CoolSculpting (Zeltiq/Allergan), liposuction and other body contouring and fat reduction treatments.” The article details the benefits of Z Wave’s radial pulse technology. Specifically, the device’s “shockwaves” promote “angiogenesis, which reduces swelling, expedites lymphatic drainage and helps the body heal better and faster.”

For the article, Hilton interviewed Plastic Surgeon and Z Wave user, Dr. Gordon Sasaki. She writes that Dr. Sasaki uses the Z Wave in his practice for both treatment of cellulite and for enhanced results after CoolSculpting^®.  Dr. Sasaki also uses Z Wave to “treat irregularities after procedures such as liposuction, abdominoplasties and for submental irregularities after neck lifts, etc…”

The article reports Dr. Sasaki’s observation that the acoustic percussive Z Wave is differentiated in the medical device market, is “well controlled and can be tailored to the patient’s needs”.  Dr. Sasaki praises the device for its cost effectiveness, minimal disposables, ease of use for the provider and for requiring little down time to the patient.
